SMOKY VEGGIE QUESADILLA
Brush the inside of a large tortilla with
a few tablespoons of barbecue sauce.
Sprinkle with Monterey Jack cheese, sliced
mushrooms, and a few spinach leaves. Cook
in a lightly greased skillet until crisp and golden.
SAUSAGE ROLLS
Spread a hefty drizzle of sauce on purchased pizza
dough. Sprinkle with crumbled cooked sausage and
shredded cheddar. Roll in a log, slice, and arrange in a
9xi3-inch pan like cinnamon rolls. Bake until brown
(about 30 minutes).
TANGY POTATO SALAD
Mix together a few spoonfuls of mayo and barbecue
sauce. Toss with about a pound of cooked, diced red-
skinned potatoes and a handful of chopped red onions.

Ice Cream Scoop
This stainless-steel scoop is
dishwasher-safe and comes with a
lifetime warranty, so it’s the last
scoop you’ll ever need to buy.
WHAT WE LIKE
The spoon is
shallow enough to make beautifully
curled scoops every time. And even
after dozens of parties, desserts,
and midnight ice cream raids, it still
looks like new. Fissler Magic Ice
Cream Scoop, $27;

T IM E S A V E R
A closed grill trims about
10 minutes from cooking
time. If you have the lid off
to toast buns or add other
items, use a disposable pan
to cover foods that need
longer cooking like burgers
and chicken. The pan will
act as a lid and help cook
the items from all sides.
LEFT O V ER S
In need of a quick
snack or appetizer?
Cut leftover corn off
the cob, then toss
with a long drizzle of W
olive oil, feta cheese,
chopped onions, and
whatever fresh herbs
you have on hand.
Spoon mixture into
hollowed-out tomato
halves and sprinkle
with salt and pepper.
C O O K ’S TIP
To keep meat moist and
add flavor while roasting or
grilling with a closed grill,
place an open can of beer
over the hottest part of the
fire. The beer will boil and
saturate the air inside the
grill with water vapor, beer
flavor, and the alcohol.
